20SOMETHINGS OUTING TO THE BREWERS & MORE

Ok Baseball fans (& other interests), we’re going to Milwaukee for a ball game & a whole lot more!  The fact that the games are in the evening, actually benefits us as it gives us time to do 2 brewery tours plus some tailgating at the ball park!  Please let Aaron.M.Barnes@gmail.com know what dates you could attend (June 21, July12 or July 26) and what ticket level you would be willing to pay ($20, $36, $45) by May 18.  Due to the cost of the tickets, and the no-refund policy, we’re going to need payment up front so we can purchase the tickets.  If you’ve never done a brewery tour, you are missing out on a great informative and learning experience.  Two breweries selected to tour are the Miller plant (takes approximately 1 hour and is free including beer and soda samples!) and the Specher’s Brewery, (reservations required, $3 per person including 4 beer samples, tasting glass to keep, and the best soda EVER!)  To get all that in, we would have to leave Peace by 9:00 a.m. and would return immediately after the game.  Once we select a date that most people can attend, we will let you know.  The deadline for confirmation and money will be May 31.  Ticket prices for the Brewers are the cheapest in baseball!

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS will be scheduled for the 4th Sunday of each month.  The next scheduled date is May 25, at 9:45 a.m.

JACKHAMMERS - FIRST COME....

We have reserved tickets for Thursday, June 12, at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:05 p.m.) to see the Joliet Jackhammers.  The cost will be $8.00 per person.  Please sign up by June 5.  Children can run the bases after the game.  Please use the sign up slip in the bulletin.  If you have any questions, please contact Clayton “Foul Ball” Baker at (815) 485-4966 or call the church office.

BUILDING ASSETS IN OUR YOUTH AND COMMUNITY

The asset that we’re focusing on this month is Social Competencies: Planning/Decision Making.  Some things we can do in the community to help build this asset are: 1.) Have youth identify something they’d like to change in the community, then develop a plan for changing it. 2.) Train adult leaders to help kids through the decision making process.

Last week’s idea of the week was explain not making a choice.  This week’s is when your child receives a long-term assignment, help him/her plan and make decisions to complete it on time.

FAMILY & FRIENDS IN THE MILITARY

We are encouraging your support for those in the military and their families. We also ask for your prayers for those who have returned from Iraq who struggle to readjust to life in the U.S. and work through their grief over friends they have lost in the Middle East.  If you have someone you would like added to the list, let us know.
