This is the last week of Sunday School

Where has the time gone?  We’ve had a great year, to say the least.  Our thanks to Denise Bockwoldt and Jill Baker for their outstanding leadership, to our wonderful, faithful team leaders, teachers and helpers, and all our parents and kids for wanting to learn more about God!  The fact that Sunday School will be over until September does not mean you should take a vacation from church!!!  Pastor Dave looks for you during worship, including the children’s sermon.  So, keep up the connections with God at home and at church – even on vacation!

Vacation Bible Schoollimited enrollment, sign up today!

The theme of this summer’s Vacation Bible School will be “Peace Olympics: God’s World – One Dream.”   VBS will be July 22 – 25, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.  We enjoy crafts, games, food and fun each day.  VBS is for ages 4 (by Sept. 1) through going into 5th grade.  We will be limiting the enrollment, so you have first chance now before the community starts signing up.  (First come, first serve basis.)  Don’t miss out on a highlight of the summer!  The next planning meeting is Friday, June 6, at 9:15 a.m.  (Your friends are welcome.)  More registration forms are available on the table in the narthex.

Summer attendance challenge

Each summer Pastor Dave issues a summer worship attendance challenge.  It begins next Sunday and goes through Labor Day.  The challenge last year was met and exceeded.  So, let’s see what we can do this summer!  This year’s challenge is an average of 340.  Since kids count in the average, your being here matters!!!  (We’ll have stickers to give out each week too.)

Bring red flowers next weekend

Please bring red flowers, like geraniums or any other flowers that might be your favorite to church with you next weekend, May 24/25.  The flowers will then be planted around the outside of the church building.

Help us say good-bye to Pastor Ben

There will be a farewell gathering on Saturday, May 31 after the 5:00 p.m. service and on Sunday, June 1, at 9:45 a.m. to say good-bye and best wishes to Pastor Ben.  If you would be willing to provide cookies/bars, please use the sign up slip in the bulletin.

Jackhammers – first come....

We have reserved tickets for Thursday, June 12, at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:05 p.m.) to see the Joliet Jackhammers.  The cost will be $8.00 per person.   Please sign up by June 5.  Children can run the bases after the game.  Please use the sign up slip in the bulletin.  If you have any questions, please contact Clayton “Foul Ball” Baker at (815) 485-4966 or call the church office.

Workcamp mission trip - Partners at home can help

We have a large number of people who will be attending the mission trip work camp this year!  We are seeking to involve even more people back here in this missionary effort to help others.  You can help by being a prayer partner, a “care-package” maker (cookies, snacks, magazine, card, etc.), a supplier of various tools they’ll need.  Would you be willing to help in one or more of those ways?  (For the tools, you can donate paintbrushes [any size], paint roller covers, paint trays, paint scrapers, work gloves, and plastic drop cloths.  Look for the wheelbarrow in the entrance area in which to place the supplies.)  For the other ways to help, look for the sign up in the bulletin or call the office.  Questions?  Call Gina Losacco at 815-462-3571.

Contemporary service – second Sunday each month

Summer might be a good time to check out our contemporary worship.  With guitars and a harmonica, drums, tambourine and more, it might be a fun alternative.  Please join us for June 8, July 13, and August 10 at 6:00 p.m.

Chess & Game Club – weekly on Tues.

Please join us for a fun non-profit Chess and Game Club for all ages.  We hope to encourage growth and learning, and enjoy family and new friends.  We will provide a learning environment for the novice/beginner, and yet challenge the competitor in you as well.  All ages are invited.  We meet weekly on Tuesdays here at Peace Church. If you have any questions, please call Joanne Webb at (815) 603-2235.

“Kids Ask” question box

Kids of all ages, do you have a question you’d like answered?  Look for the “Kids Ask” question box located on the table in the narthex.  Write your question and leave it in the box.  Pastor Dave will be answering your questions during the teaching moment during church on the third Sunday of each month.

What did you talk about today?

Each week we’d like to ask you to reflect on this together with your parents.

Register for next Fall’s Sunday School

We’ve had a lot of fun in Sunday School.  We look forward to another great year starting next Fall.  We are so blessed to have such dedicated leadership and teachers....most of them are coming back.  We’d like to register kids ahead of time as well as find out who is willing to help out in a variety of ways.  Please fill out a registration form (they are located on a table in the narthex), or call the church office.
