7^th-12^th Gr. – Messtival! Sun., Sept. 22

Youth 7^th grade and older are invited to join us for the messiest of messy events...MESSTIVAL! Sept. 22 at 12:30pm we will meet for a pizza lunch and then we will get super messy!  Please let us know if you can attend! We suggest that you wear play clothes or something you do not mind getting dirty.  Bring a towel and a pair of goggles if you have them. Please use the  Online sign up or use the -up slip in the bulletin.  Pick up will be 2:30pm.

Karissa Fleming, a licensed trauma therapist and one of our members will be speaking about trauma and our bodies response to it. This event will be geared towards our 7^th -12^th graders and parents are invited to come as well. All who attend are invited to ask questions. We will have dinner together following the presentation to get to know Karissa better but also have some time for fellowship.

On Saturday afternoon we will be meeting at church to learn a little bit about the Reformation and Martin Luther. Not the civil rights activist but the one responsible for the Reformation, think Monk who farts a lot! If you like to laugh and you want to learn how the Lutheran church began this is the lock-in for you. As always, we will spend the night here at the church and have plenty of time for fun and food as well!

This year our Synod will be putting together another Jr. high retreat on Oct. 26 from10am-5pm. Last year we volunteered at a senior living facility and this year we will be serving at a Trunk or Treat for children in the foster care system and others in the community. We will also have games, lunch and worship together. If you are a youth in 7^th-8^th grade and would like to participate as well as meet other kids from the Northern Illinois Synod, please use the online sign up. Parents, if anyone would like to go with us and be a trunk that would be awesome too, just indicate this on your sign-up sheet. This event is free, but please bring money for a fast-food dinner on the way home.
